Overview
If you have renewed your BTCSoftware subscription but the software is still showing as unlicensed, in trial mode, or displaying a licence error, this article explains why it happens and how to resolve it quickly.
Why Does This Happen?
After a subscription renewal, there can be a short delay before the new licence key is applied to your account. In some cases the licence key needs to be manually re-entered, particularly if you are renewing after a lapse in subscription or if the renewal was processed very recently.
Step 1 — Wait and Restart
If you have just renewed within the last hour:
- Close BTCSoftware completely.
- Wait 15 minutes to allow the licence system to update.
- Re-open BTCSoftware.
- If the licence error has cleared, no further action is needed.
Step 2 — Locate Your Licence Key
If the error persists, you will need your licence key. Your licence key is provided in:
- The confirmation email from BTCSoftware following your renewal
- Your renewal invoice (the key is usually printed at the top or bottom of the invoice)
✔ Tip: If you cannot find your licence key, log in to BrightHub at hub.brightsg.com, go to Products > BTC Software, and the current licence key will be displayed there.
Step 3 — Re-Enter Your Licence Key
- Open BTCSoftware.
- When the licence error or registration screen appears, click Enter Licence Key or Register.
- Enter your licence key exactly as shown, including hyphens. Do not add spaces.
- Click Activate or Register.
- BTCSoftware will contact the Bright activation server. This requires an active internet connection.
- Once activated, the software will confirm the licence is valid and you can proceed normally.
⚠ Important: Ensure you are connected to the internet before attempting activation. The activation process contacts Bright's servers to validate the key — it will not work offline.
Step 4 — If Activation Fails
If the key is not accepted:
- Double-check the key against your confirmation email — a single incorrect character will cause activation to fail.
- Check that the key has not already been activated on the maximum number of devices for your licence. If so, you may need to deactivate it on an old device first , contact support for assistance.
- If you renewed recently and the key is still not working after 24 hours, contact BTC Software support with your invoice number and the licence key — the team can manually activate your licence.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My software says I am in Trial Mode — what does this mean?
A: Trial Mode means the software has detected that a valid full licence is not active. This can happen after a renewal if the new key has not been applied. Follow the steps above to re-enter your licence key.
Q: I have entered the licence key but it says 'Too many activations' — what do I do?
A: This means the key has been activated on more PCs than your licence allows. Contact BTCSoftware support, we can release an activation from an old machine so you can activate on the new one.
Q: Can I continue working while the licence error is showing?
A: In trial mode, some features may be restricted. We recommend resolving the licence error before continuing with client work to avoid any submissions being blocked.
Q: I cannot find my licence key anywhere — what should I do?
A: Contact btcsoftwaresupport@brigthsg.com
