Do I need to re-enter all my client data when I switch to BrightTax?
No. BTCSoftware and BrightTax share the same live database. Once your data is hosted, all your existing clients are immediately visible in BrightTax, nothing to re-import, nothing to re-enter.
You can roll forward from a 2025 return completed in BTCSoftware directly into a 2026 return created in BrightTax.
Can I run BTCSoftware and BrightTax at the same time?
Yes. Both systems run in parallel, sharing the same database. You can continue using BTCSoftware for tasks still within its supported scope whilst working in BrightTax for everything else. There is no forced cut-over.
Will I still need the VPN once I move to BrightTax?
BrightTax itself does not require a VPN. However, if you continue using BTCSoftware for historical data or Trust returns, the VPN will still be required for that access.
